Thanks Scott, I'm lagging, but trying to catch up when I have the time. Just finished watching the Transfer Port vid. Great stuff.

Question: Is there any time that you think a Bridge Port helps? They seem to help on some of the AM 440 BB jugs I've worked on, maybe because the ports are not great in the first place, and I don't have a right angle grinder. Would appreciate your thoughts.

if you want to play, you have to pay. right?

I don't like the idea of bridge ports or finger ports in a work saw. I feel it weakens the cylinder. play things are another story.
When I do bridge port's I try to keep them as far forward on the bridge and not to deep just deep enough so they flow so far no problems. Now finger port's ivI' never tried and I don't think I will plus it's hard to keep my hands steady lol yea even at my age my hands shake.lol

I thought I knew how much work was involved in porting, but seeing it happen, there is a lot of scope for making a complete mess of things, tree monkey, you are a skillful patient and knowledgeable man. I can see how the work you do can transform a saw, giving power that the manufacturers must not want us to have, well unless you take a hit and move up a saw size.
I hope good things come your way, for you certainly bring them to others.
