I found this tidy orginal early 064 on our local auction site recently, I need another 064 as much as I need a tooth ache so I thought I'd list it here where someone who will truly appreciate it might pick it up. I thought I'd document a few of the very early 1122 features that differ from the later models as well. From what I can see this is a relitively low hour saw with a few cosmetic chips and scuffs consistent with a saw that is at least 35 years old. Price is $775USD PHO including freight to the lower 48. You will see immediately that I have put new dogs and a roller chain catcher on, the saw didn't come with dogs (to me) but I believe these saws came with an aluminium chain catcher mounted to the bottom inner dog screw. I don't personally like that style of chain catcher as they tend to clog badly when noodling. It also came with a spur sprocket, I have upgraded it to rim drive with a good secondhand drum I had lying around. Another thing to note is these early saws came with a chain brake mechanisim cover with only three fixing screws not four like the later saws. The top cover is also held in plce with M4 screws (including the one you can see below just in front of the top handle) not M5 like on the later saws.

I can't see whether the cylinder is Mahle or KS (without taking the cylinder off - which I'd rather not do) but the piston is in beautiful shape, showing very little wear. I timed the cylinder as well and it comes out at a very nice 101 Exhaust, 123 Transfers and 73 intake. Compression is substantial at nearly 170psi20240323_083936.jpg20240323_084038.jpg20240323_150716.jpg

I tested the saw this afternoon in hardwood and it runs like stink, almost reluctant to let it go!

Buy with confidence, I've been around for while and there might be one or two who can vouch for me.

Has all the right things for an early 064, dogleg coil, 1125 clutch cover, wj6, even the the lead wire looks original. Only thing changed is the muffler and worm gear:

Thanks Mark, interesting you point up the muffler, the one that came on the saw is a very early style muffler, but it appears to be off an 066 as it is the deeper version and had spacers between it and the cases along with long M5 cap screws. I presumed this was wrong and found a good (shallower) 064 muffler, which as you say is off a later saw. The original setup will be thrown in with the saw if the purchaser is keen. As for the oil pump drive, what did the original look like?
