Looks like the newer part number will be 178VXLHD009 (17" bar, .058 gauge, 3/8" pitch, D009 bar mount). The Oregon website has saws that this bar will fit on at the bottom of the page which includes Dolmars, Huskys, Jonsered, Makita, Partner, Poulan, Shindaiwa and Solo's.

The 178X on your bar shows that it is a 17" bar, 8 = .058" gauge and the X was the bar type (the newer one VXL = Versacut).

Some Oregon bars use a product code that you can decipher, via the chart in the ‘Oregon Maintenance and Safety Manual’ (Google).

Lots of great information in there for ANY brand of chain guide bar, and sprocket.

Some bars, intended for certain combo / specialty packaging, just have a lot or project number stamped on them.

I believe his flag tells us he's from Slovenia, the 800 number probably doesn't work for him.

The other bar is 18" 58 gauge, but I'm not sure how to decipher the fitment code.

A photo of the tail with the bar slot, adjuster, and oiler holes would help. Check the width of the slot to see if it fits 5/16" (8mm) or 3/8" (9.5 mm) bar studs.
