What kind of fish?

Those are called Tsipoura in Greek. It's something like a sea bream, but is called Dorade Royale officially in North America. I call it a sea bream. Lol.

Never tried it, but I do love some fish....trying to figure out what that is in Greek.


We get these EU Baracuda when they are relatively small (15-20 inches) and split them down the center vertically nose-to-tail until you can open them like a book. We lay them in the sun for a few hours with a light coat of salt. Rinse them and throw them on the grill with some oregano until they get some grill marks and are nice and hot.

Douse them with a red wine vinegar and oil, and YUM YUM...

They may be related. I see fish like those when I'm snorkeling.

I translated that and it reminds me of a word the Greeks use. They don't mean the same, but many times its words like these one has to live to experience, because they don't translate or have an equal in other languages.

The word Filotimo is used here to describe a feeling between humans, where one wants to help or give to the other from human nature. It doesn't include feelings of generosity for gain, popularity or recognition. Filo means friend. Timo means to honor. So, you can translate it as honor friend, or to honor your friend.

He's referred to as the "Greek" by many who buy from him on the forum. I've a few items from him that helped me out on projects.

@Mastermind @Jon1212 Where's the monitoring on this. We can be chastised for racial and ethic posts but this post calls a young lady a hoe because she has an Air Force uniform. The DOD has plenty of "plays well with others" classes and this guy needs all of them. If he is still active duty a post like that could earn him a promotion to civilian ahead of schedule. The toughest marines and special forces never worry about what sort of "chair" the A10 and F16 drivers are sitting in. Sorry you're in pain right now but that post was out of line.

I proudly served as an Air Force F-16/ F-117 and F-22 mechanic. Had a lot of grateful Army and Marine guys come up and shake my hand and tell me thanks because the fact that my airplane and pilots dropped bombs when they did, saved their lives. Those were the guys that saw me busting butt to keep jets in the air, so that all our guys could come back safe. Got a daughter in the Army too. She's infantry.
