So cool air travels from the flywheel up and out the frog skin but it won't cool as it goes by the fins?

I'll let you know if or when I'm wrong

The cool air can't go by the fins if it comes out the frog skin first. Think of it like taking the top cover off and running it. then all the air goes straight up and not by the motor to cool it. Great for hot starts until the motor is seized. With the hole in the fan side a percentage of the air from the fan is being diverted from going across the cooling fins of the motor. How much I don't know, how long it will last, I don't know either. I can rebuild it though if it doesn't pan out for you, I do know that.
Not trying to be argumentative here towards you here Clint, I just hate to see you burn up your saw is all, trying this. As far as I know after the triangle hole fix from Husqvarna no hot start problems have been reported.

The vent...It don’t make a damn how many MF’rs I killed, it don’t make a rats ass....it doesn’t.

Two years ago when my momma came back from a Dr’s appt one afternoon, and she hit the kitchen floor from her walker, my Marine ass wasn’t good enough to save her. I gave her 60-70 chest compressions every minute until EMS showed up. I switched up as best I could to give her breaths, go back to pumping that chest. I failed, and I’m sorry for it.

I wouldn’t wish my life on none of you *f-worders...but I’m gonna see the sun shine another day!

Thanks for your concern Steve. I'm not going to over think it. It's just an air cooled motor.

I'm sure you did everything you could Jason. When the Lord calls, you answer. I lost my brother almost 9 years ago and my father 2 years ago. Nothing ever replaces them.

You at least tried, not every person can be resusitated. You can't lay all that on your shoulders, loss is a part of life, not a cross to bear.

Good afternoon, 'nother day an da roof one more to go...

Sure makes short work of it and I'd keep using the pliers. Lol

Clint, check to see your cover isn't just blowing/ bleeding off cool air that otherwise could/would have went by the motor, could have a reverse affect otherwise.

I plan on that. Gonna make a pair of tongs that will align the blank in the die. To help keep em uniform.

Jason,
Those of us who have never had to take a life can never fully comprehend your feelings on the value of life. When the Lord is ready even doctors can't change his mind. I really hope you can lighten up on yourself for not being able to preserve a life that was so important to you. It is natural, normal and I believe very good for parents to precede their children in passing on from this life. Having lost one daughter already my deepest wish is that I go before my other daughter or any of my grandkids. Live your life and treasure your mother's memory. I assure you the last thing she wants is for you to do is screw up your life or cause her grandchildren misery over the fact that the Good Lord took her first. Enjoy her memory, celebrate her life. Don't mess your life up over her death. Just because the Marines trained you to take a life in situations that require it, they didn't give you the power to control life. I'm sorry your service to our country put you in the situations it did but I for one am eternally grateful you were there when we needed you. I was orphaned at the young age of 47 and I promise you I felt like an orphan. The hole it leaves is real and large but now at 69 I promise you my life is happier than I ever imagined and it has to do with kids and grandkids. And I know my mom and my dad are proud of what a great grandpa I am, despite their not being here to guide me and enjoy it. Best of luck and please make yourself move onward and upward, a downward turn at this point could be tragic for the ones you love and still have.

Nick
