That's the problem, no bark. I've cut a lot of walnut in my day, none have ever had a purple ring.

I remember cutting it and showing dad, we both thought walnut, but wasn't 100% sure. It was hard as hell tho!

Probably some kind of alder or something. Walnut always has white sap wood and it's not all that hard.

I know how you feel. 8:30pm local on our game. Was close until the end but a pick 6 with just over 2 minutes to play sealed the victory for us.
