I had a 1989 that would do the same thing. If I remember correctly it was a ignition problem. It was a great work truck for me.

That's the same year mine is... hum now you got me wanting to tear into it.

I fixed the ignition and never had another problem with that truck. Good luck on getting yours back on the road.
