A buddy of mine keeps them alive for a good week before he cooks them. Puts them in a tank and flushes them out of all the dirty crud. Changes the water everyday. Says it's the only way to eat them

Yeah that's what you should do. An old guy that I grew up around would do the same. He would feed them raw burger all summer then cook them up in September.

I don't have time for that right now plus there's twenty curious fingers around my house that could come up missing if I were to keep it around.

Took it to a pond down the road so my Shepherd doesn't get bit. That dumb fugger wouldn't leave it alone.
