Have a Mini Mac here from a good friend that passed last summer from Cancer, would be nice to be able to get it going again in his memory. Before he got sick I rebuilt a newer one for him, he sure loved that little saw. Could hardly wait to get out and top a tree with it.

I wouldn't smash it but some people who shall remain anonymous would and do

That's just wrong, and mean. Why dry up a resource that other people like? Just because you don't have the technical fortitude to be able to repair one, is no justification. There's other old saws that aren't my favorite, but other people like, let them have 'em, I don't smash 'em, that would be ridiculous.

I have and still get a lot of sentimental repairs after someone's passed on.
Mini macs are cake compared to the later production all plastic homelite's after they were bought out it was a real job to get it running the cylinder plating had flaked off and ate the piston and rings but it was somebody's saw
Took month's to find part's for that saw.

Mahle was the one that figured out how to chrome plate a cylinder and have it stay. When the American company's tried their hand at it, was just the same as chrome on a bumper of a car, and peeled off much the same way. The American cylinders with cast iron liners in them however were good and some could stand to take a .070" over bore. With a new oversize piston, away you go again.
