I do all the same stuff. Heater, Kindle donuts and milk. Can be a PITA packing it all in to the woods but it keeps the kids entertained and keeps you in the stand. Good luck BTW!

I'm a new hunter. I started 3 years ago. I got hooked on thanksgiving day when Grandpa sent me to his stand to get a buck he's been watching that would never come close enough for him to take a *s-word he was comfortable with.

20 mins in the stand and I had a nice 9pt on the ground.
The following year I sat in a ladder stand. That took the fun out of it for me.

I prefer bow hunting in long sleeve shirt in the fall, instead of freezing my ass off during a snowstorm. The last few years i haven't even hunted with a gun, i've had my freezer packed by Nov 15th

My boy has 4 stands setup in our woods. Crossing my fingers he sticks one so I dont have to sit in the cold after Thankgiving.

My wife randomly had this story pop up on facebook today. Very strange how that happened.

It's a story of my best friend who was killed 4 years ago.

@USMC615 will find it a good read.

You are right to be proud if your friend Dan. He's a prime example of why we get to live in the free countries that we do.

When you next see his family please thank them for me. Their sacrifice can not be measured only remembered.
