Reminds me of being on a fishing boat up in Alaska and the hydraulic pump bracket broke for the rudder. There was a stick welder on board and the Skipper hands me some rod and says weld it. I looked at them and they were bronze rofs for welding propellers. I said I can't weld steel with these. His reply was do you want to see land again? So I said hand me that hood. Lol I just kept pouring it in the joint ignoring whatever was coming out. After a few passes it looked very strange color between bronze and steel mixture. But it held together and we were no longer adrift at sea.
