I cut the tube out of 2159 with the same set up. Opened up under the deflector quite a bit and it ran 100% better.

Been doing this to my huskies..

if you cut the tube out of the echo it will make a deaf kid cry and wake the dead.

Remove the bottom half of the factory deflector. And drill 1/4" holes in the deep corners of the recessed square. Much more than that they get really loud.
