We got in a brand new 220 case tractor a month ago. When the temp drops below 45* it will not start. It cranks fine fires then dies. It will do this until the battery(4D) is dead. The grid heater does not come on until 20*f. The fuctard service manager said sell it. Needless to say, the customer is not happy with a tractor he has to plug in every night. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My little John Deere will start at -25 not plugged in. I do usually plug it in though because I imagine it’s easier on it than not in cold weather.

I love those, last one I got a case of the 1607's for my 24v and some fuel filters as well. The fuel filters went to my neighbor as I was advised to run an Airdog and bypass the oe filters and f/p, but still good prices. Better than employee pricing too, especially if you get the MP versions.

2nd gen 24V's sing a nice tune with the stock filter housing out of the way (too many restrictions with that mess in the way) the VP44 likes a nice steady stream of fuel, what it can't eat gets bypassed back to the tank.

50% off of filters is always a good deal for hemi junk I run these days. $40 for a air filter is nuts, $20 on the sale, yeah I'll buy a case.

If you never seen the difference, between stock 6mm lines, and 1/2" airdog, or fass lines, this pic shows it well.

Stock 2 gen 24v lines are very restrictive, and even worse / more necked down, at the fittings for the fuel filter canister and lift pump, they just starve a VP44.

20 years ago I bought a low mile, one owner, 2001 3500 CTD on eBay, down near DFW, asked the seller before I flew down to get it, if he minded if I worked on the truck for few hours, before I took off back to CO, he said that was fine with him. So I had a Airdog kit shipped to his house, and I FedEx'd some tools down there, needed for the install. I was having flash backs to the late 1990's, and the VP44 dying on the the side of the road on the trip back, from fuel starvation. I went right from the Airdog to the VP44 with that fat boy 1/2" line, bypassed the lift pump, and stock filter housing an all that BS.

Guy I bought the truck from just stood around and watched me work, once I was done with the install, and fired it up, he was like damn son what the hell did ya do to the truck, it sounds like a whole new animal. I explained it to him, and took him for a rip around the block, he said that truck never ran that good since new. Those 2nd gen 24v were very fuel starved right from the factory. They benefit from a healthy flow of fuel, what they don't drink bypasses back to the tank.
