Yes, at least for the winter the "experts" around here suggest cutting it real short for winter gives them less places to live/hide. The snow packs down firmer and they can't move around.

We have these stupid foreign electricity cables, to Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK.
We are going to be part of the European power market, they say.
Today there is little wind in Europe, so the price is skyrocketing, today's spot price is close to $1 per kWh.

We produce more than we consume, actually always, the power companies reap!

It seems that this was the last straw for incompetent politicians.
Now they no longer want to build new cables abroad, they want more Norwegian power off the European power exchange.
If that's what it takes, I'll gladly accept high prices until Christmas

Well, I found his article saying let the leaves lie and don't rake them but he also advocated cutting the lawn to about 2", although no mention of voles, so I got that message wrong

I also looked online and found sooo many conflicting opinions from leave it higher than normal to cut it lower than normal, although there was a consensus that you shouldn't ever cut after the first hard frost, which we did have very early this year, in late September

But in going back and looking at my photo app I also remembered that we had all the work done on the foundation borders, planters, and tree rings the last week of September and it absolutely thrashed the grass from all the wheelbarrow and foot traffic

The landscape guys told me to just leave it alone and let it spring back on its own it would be fine in the spring, and it was just a few days before that very hard first frost

I guess we shall see what spring brings

I do have some places that needed overseeding and some more dirt but again, the first frost caught me with a few jobs unfinished

I was able to get the prilled lime and fall fertilizer down and watered so there's that
