I did blow a little on my son, but only a part time semester. He'll be a journeyman millwright in September, week after Kev's I'll have a party for him. You can come up if you want. I couldn't be more proud.

Dall and curinrearview got into an argument, that’s what ya missed. This thread is so confusing/addicting. If I took a day off I’d have to spend a half hour looking thru all the new posts.

Keeping up is part of the fun. Most of it is nonsense. A lot of these guys are friends or acquaintances beyond the internet, so a lot of people won’t get their inside joking and banter. I’ve been here a while, and still don’t understand some. However, I’ve met a handful of these guys in person and they’re good people.

I damn near drove myself into the ground with a big dead balsam today. Things been dead a long time and was probably close to 20” at the base. Select the area I wanted it to go but knew it would be tough to put there the way it was leaning but figured I’d attempt it anyway. Did matter if it went the way it wanted to because there was nothing to hit but a bunch of little pines. We’ll made my notch and tried to roll it on the hinge needless to say was hollow in center so I didn’t have goof holding wood. Ended up just doing a finishing my back cut and let it fall on the little pines. No big deal I thought and all the big dead branches stayed on so I don’t get hit album them. Figured all was good till I caught movement out of the corner of my eye, the damn tree broke in half allowing the pines to stand back up catapulting the top half back at me. I moved far enough to the side the 20’ long 10-12” diameter log chunk hit me in the shoulder knocking me to the side and glanced off my ribs before coming to rest by the other half of the tree on the ground. Needless to say I was done cutting for the day and went in shop to sharpen tree service saw chains. Could have very easily died from this if I was standing a foot further left.
