If ya get back to Rifle, and you have never checked out the Flat Tops Wilderness, you should.

Over 100 lakes up there, plenty of places to camp, you can go from Rifle to Steamboat all back country. It starts just a few miles north of Rifle.

Yes. I have family there.

Navy pier
Skydeck at sears (now willis) tower
Some great museums in Chicago
Lincoln Park Zoo (if you want to see some of Dalls kinfolk)
If you like to eat, find a good pizza place, or better yet Italian beef place.

There's a chit ton of things to do there.....

noone with any sense goes to chitcago on purpose and when driving through you dont stop to sightsee
