@redline4 hey Ed, any common issues to look out for on a 2015 Sierra 1500 4WD with the 5.3L? Asking for a friend, quite literally.

Take a good look at the radiator core, especially at the corners. Look through the fan with a flashlight from under hood.
Any orange funk means it's leaking.
Make sure AC works. Put in lots of condensers.
Oil cooler lines can leak too. Can also see that from under hood, between engine and radiator.
Those are the trouble spots on them. Once fixed, can't say I've seen them back for a repeat.

I just want to know why they think their current sales platform is superior to selling it in the damn store next to Valvoline and Pennzoil.

Too late!

Firestone is the best! I mean, RedArmor!
That’s way above my level, I’m just a simple dealer. BUT, if they just sold it in stores, it wouldn’t benefit guys like me at all. I think they like that their dealers can offer personalized service and help when needed. If their business model didn’t work, they would have bailed on it years ago - but it’s 40 years strong and no sign of slowing down.

Amsoil is great product. Too expensive for me in most cases though. I became a dealer myself....but only to get dealer price for the products that I use.
I saw a handout at a bike parts place that said you can buy a complete amsoil oil change kit for my Harley Goldwing. Never priced it out. Harley is very proud of their filters ,gaskets, and synthetic oil

Also, some dealers do sell retail, or sell to retailers who display at auto parts stores, etc. It’s on shelves at FleetFarm’s around here steady. It can certainly be sold off the shelf, just takes the right dealer and retailer to connect and make it happen.

Mine gets a Drag Specialties black oil filter and Bel-Ray 20w50. It's what my shop recommends.
Although I did read on here that all air cooled engines should only use straight 30...

Alaska has a chain of stores called Three Bears (black, brown, white) and they are a quasi warehouse styled store located in communities that don't rate a Costco or the like

They have a really good sized display of what are probably the most requested Amsoil products

I can walk in and buy a quart of Saber or Dominator any day of the week for what they sell it for online

🤦🏻‍♂️ I regret my decision to post that, mostly because it’s so easy to take things out of context through typing/reading. I would otherwise enjoy a respectable conversation on the topic.
No fights here either.
I burn Dominator.
I drain and refill Shell/Pennzoil or Delo/Havoline. 69 million prime movers doing seventy eleven thousand miles every day can't be wrong.
