My youngest sister in law is having the first of a few surgeries in the morning. She has a few discs that are herniated, and she has lost the feeling in her feet. Glenda and I are going to Knoxville in the morning and might be away for a few days.

You guys that are the praying type....say a few for Rebecca. Please.

Will do boss

Easy there snowbird. You just lost the 461 bump I was about to give ya.

I wasn't trying ruffle feathers.

All I know is in my trade, when we were on big jobs, where there was union & non-union guys in our trade. The union guys were known to slack.

One example, we went to a big government job, it was almost 9,000 sheets.

There had been 4 union guys there for almost 3 weeks. They had barely hung 250 sheets in 3 weeks.

Foreman of the job was pissed, his boss called in a private non-union company to get the job moving along.

The foreman asked the 3 of us, as we were unloading our tools, how many sheets we hang a day?

This job was some of the easiest hanging ever, all walls, no lids, we told the foreman, 175 sheets a day no drama, on a job this easy.

He laughed thought we were joking. We hung 185 sheets that first day in 7 hours, by day 3, the foreman chased union guys off that job.

Things like that have happened many times in my trade.

I meant to also say, in my trade.

Union guys get paid by the hour.

Non-union guys get paid by the sheet.

So square footage guys tend to hustle, the more you hang, the more you make.

The shots have been fired. The only way to settle this now is a duel, Wild West style. @timg vs. @maulhead

Date is set for New Year's Eve, coin toss for the venue.

I don't hate unions, they serve a purpose.

But me and my dad went to set windows and hang vinyl siding on a building in Sarver about 20 years ago for a guy named Leo that had a little union company..was friends with my dad, he needed bailed out bad.

Me and my dad hung more vinyl in 1 day than 8 of them did, it was borderline comical, they were cutting each piece of siding with a mitre box about 100 ft away for each piece. It wasn't a surprise at all after the first day why he needed help, those guys on his crew didn't like us very much.

We cut it with snips and had the box on the scaffold with us, I guess those girls didn't have the forearms and wrists to cut it by hand all day.

I'll be the first to admit there are alot of lazy no good mfer union members. But unions were established to build better, safer work environments and strengthen labor income rates and retirement funds for the future. But to blanket union members as a whole didn't ruffle my feathers just stood my hair up a bit.

I read the comments, and I didn't see anyone specifically saying all unions are bad. I am a non-union guy myself, as most have changed to be self serving entities. They barely represent their members. That being said, they have done good things for workers rights, in the past. My problem with them is public sector unions. Where a temporary elected bureaucrat, negotiates with a union, at the taxpayers expense, so they vote him out, but the deal stays.

We're all good here, just don't get all riled up so easily Tim, you are better than that.

I wasn't being political at all. Clock milk is a regular staple for some. Personally, I would rather just get chit done and go home. But some would rather drive up the costs, to increase their pay. I get it, but don't care for it.

Don't matter to me, unions have there place, in some trades.

Don't try to get out if it now! The duel is happening! Two men, two pistols!

Alternatively we could do a wrestling match, but if @timg can slam bodies like he slams barbecue ribs, I'd opt for the duel...
