You have one vehicle to choose from and the goal is longevity/reliability/simple what vehicle do you choose? . I’m going with a 85 Toyota pickup with a 22re. Although I wouldn’t mind earlier model 22r engines.

It is a shame that you are pretty correct. Maybe an f150 with 300 six and manual transmission. Not very fuel efficient or passenger practical. Good question though. I am going to think on it. My Ferguson TO-20 from 1951 is pretty dang reliable. But not what you asked. Maybe anything Toyota or Honda, Japanese have that quality thing down pretty good.

Anything mechanical can break and cause issues.
I just sold my 06 2500HD. 220,000 miles. My nephew bought it. If you've seen pics I've posted, that truck got thrashed. It had its few issues, but nothing big. But, 10mpg. I'd hop in it and run to Cali with it.

The new stuff, well, it's got issues no matter what brand. You do however have that warranty thing to pay for it.

The small turbo engines get decent economy, GM has oil leaks on them. Not sure about others. Last I heard the local Hyundai dealer had 37 cars waiting for engines that grenades. Ford boys tell me the Bronco engines are having issues. I personally don't think small and turbo is the best route even though my wife runs one.

In my opinion, best engine that could be had in the last 20 years, the GM 6.0 gasser. Get it with no variable valve timing, no active fuel management and put gas, oil and coolant in it for however many miles the chassis can take.

In short, cars suck.

my yukon has the 6.0 and has 198000 on it i get 12 to 14 out of it

There are some vehicles with great engines with a crappy vehicle wrapped around it. No matter what car or truck, there are examples of lasting a long time and there are people who have had nothing but trouble. Discounting neglect, what would be the longest lasting vehicle? While diesels are known for their longevity, they are also known for expensive maintenance costs.

I gree the high strung turbo motors make good power, they have their issues. Anything that goes through those heat cycles takes a beating, and eventually have oiling problems. I believe a NA motor is going to last the longest. Unless it revs really high, (S2000) , which brings me back to tractors. Those low revving long stroke motors last for almost ever. Which is why I think the most reliable engine will be Ford's 4.9L inline 6. I know Dodge had an inline 6, was it the 225 slant? Not sure what that was put in besides cars and maybe jeeps.

I need some advice, going to be shopping for a lawn tractor for the new yard, what should I look at, what should I avoid. Ideally I’d probably like to run a blower or blade on the front in the winter.

I’ve been looking for a new vehicle for a while…. The ones that come up are just too dam expensive or the ones that I can afford, well they get sold too dam quick

the vehicle I'm after is a vw transporter 4x4,

there were a load of ex breakdown company [ RAC] came up. 5/6yr old,

I contacted the company and it took them a while to get back to me.

the company that were selling them had them on the bay cheaper than book price. but just referred you to there web page and said those on eBay had sold but all those on there web page were more expensive than book price.

so the answer is I’m not getting one just yet.

I have a hard time recommending homeowner stuff, I always prefer to buy once cry once. How handy are you? Maybe a walk behind with a sulky? Farmall Cub with belly mower? Gravely garden tractors? The G series aren't that old, only 20 years or so. If you must buy new, get better than a 2200 hydro, 3100 and with a Kawasaki engine will last a long time. The stuff you see at big box stores is going to need replacing in less than 10 years.

Tough question. What is your budget? That will help.

In that case, something high in quality that will have enough power to remove snow. The grass cutting part is easy....the other is what I would focus on.

Im not as handy as I would like to think I am. Budget is what it take to get what I want but not unlimited. I too have graduated from home owner stuff. Maybe a larger format walk behind isn’t a bad idea. Toro has some really nice walk behind/ stand one that you can put a blade one but I don’t think I can justify the $15k price I have seen on those.

I’ve learned from reading here that Kawasaki is preferred over Kohler motors.
