Glenda had one run into the fender on a PT Cruiser we had. Pretty much totaled it. Craved in the fender, both doors and the quarter panel. Took off the mirror too.

ive hit 8 since i started driving and only did damage twice and it was just fenders

Here's how I do mine, 2 ratchet straps.
This set is modified with chunks of rebar welded to the pads. Ride quality on hard surface is absolutely awful, but even an inch of snow smooths it out.
But, even on glare ice I can get traction with these.

I have another set that doesn't have the rebar and pads cut. This was a prototype he wanted me to try out.
