Heres todays question.
Just had a discussion with my dipstick service manager because he keeps changing the direction of the big ceiling fan at my end of the shop and I keep changing it back..
So, which direction do you guys think it should turn in summer vs winter?
I know what the ceiling fan companies say, but according to him, they are wrong.
This took any inkling out of the equation as to whether or not this mf'r is dumb...he just dumb!

Everyone that has commented has been correct. You never want the air pushing down in the winter. Even if it is warm air the breeze will create evaporative cooling on you skin making you feel cool resulting in you turning up the heat.

Up during winter, down during summer...

Up slow speed in winter, down faster speed in summer.

This took any inkling out of the equation as to whether or not this mf'r is dumb...he just dumb!

Yeah, well, he will still tell you that you mf'ers are wrong.

So, I stuck this to the fan control.

Not gonna lie, had to do some googling on the fan thing despite working in a process environment. Agree that pulling the hot air up SEEMS counter-intuitive until the displacement of it gently back down is taken into account.
It never gets cold enough here for me to have ever thought about it, and the heatpump a/c doesn't give me the option anyway.

Sorry Ed, Going against the majority on this on for sure. Only because most metal buildings I've been in are poorly insulated. And in the summer that hot air in the ceiling is not coming down as per those instructions. It can stay the fukk up there not down where I'm working LOL!!

We have 2 big fans. 1 by me, 1 up front.
I'm at the door that's constantly opening and closing for cars in and out.
They have 2 waste oil furnaces, 1 at opposite end from me and 1 in the middle pointing across shop, not towards me.
My radiant heater quit working in November.
I can truthfully say that this morning it was warmer when I had it rotating clockwise (up), than when my manager switched it to counterclockwise (down), which prompted the discussion.
