Just bought something similar yesterday Dave, hasn't arrived yet. Was cheap enough to use it as a development tool for a better one if necessary.
We have old Peavy's
That are better built than this
But the welds on this look fine I just have to sharpen the hook
My neighbor makes
Hickory handles so if I break a handle it's no big deal.

I had to cut my own switch from a willow tree to be beaten with when I was young.
The switches don’t play. Lol. Mine came from the chestnut bush.

Lol they don't inspire confidence do they..seems like branches could fall off anywhere when I look at them..
Sure don’t inspire confidence. The wood is spongy and flakes off under mild weight...almost feels rotten. I imagine that’s what Ohio speed wood is like.

Need to get one o them, but aint about to pay what they ask for them new.
The Peavy brand is worth every dollar to me for a traditional wood handle. Stihl has a tough metal handle one. A fella brought over a cheap metal handle stand style to try out and the handle bent rolling up a 8 inch log.
