I THINK that one may have separate fuses for trailer lights etc. Doesnt mean someone didnt wire it wrong though.
Found the short (and even more butt splices and scotchloks). The short was actually simple. Just the socket for the plate light bulb. The scotchloks weren't actually causing the problem this time, but they definitely need addressed. I got a bandaid fix on them for now.
I also got the shutoff solenoid installed so that the engine shuts off with the key, instead of a ghetto choke cable kill switch.
New voltage regulator seems to be holding the voltage too low. Its at around 12.2-12.4 running. Shut it off and the batteries go up to 12.7. Bad regulator right out of the box maybe. Alternator and batteries are known good. Might try doing some voltage drop tests tomorrow.
