I had some 550s from a Christmas tree farm that I rebuilt. I soaked them in isopropyl. *s-word wiped right off.

have done that in the past but always looking for gooder/betterer options…

No I was strapping down a load of pipe, I went to pull a strap across the bed of the truck and the dam hook end of the strap flung across and hit me in the teefers. It actually doesn't hurt at all. Just looking ugly. Had to file an accident report and all that chit so I'm probably not gonna get employee of the month but the workmans comp should pay for the tooth.

It doesn't do that to most factory finishes. It changes the color though. Maybe if left cooking for a week it might remove it. This was about at hour at 375° and the diluted super clean. How diluted? Glug glug glug ad water type of precision on that.

I picked up some of that Amsoil mud slinger @sawmikaze raved about. Haven't tried it yet. I think it's more of a preventative vs remover?

I have a similar front tooth that has since been fixed.
Mine was when I caught a 13mm 3/8 drive impact swivel socket spinning full bore off the end of the impact. It hurt.
