I see folks growing *s-word_loads of sunflowers......and I wonder why. So.....why?

Everything Eggy Steve said is the reason I plant them. My neighbor has bees so I feel its a neighborly thing to do.

I too do things not really eco responsible so hopefully planting a good garden for the pollenators will help offset that.

That patch the deer decimated will become self seeding wild flowers. Gotta research hardy, drought resist type so watering that area isn't much of a concern as its over a 100 yards from our nearest water source and I'd rather not have a hydrant trenched in out there.

I believe yarrow, Indian paintbrush, Jerusalem artichoke, queen Ann’s lace, and purple cone flower/echinacea are all natives that fit those parameters
