+1 On the lubricity and cetane improvers. Asphaltene conditioners are also recommended. Wouldn't recommend bio bor// algae treatment unless you have known algae contamination.
I don't know the stats Tim but someone would have to be running their distillation tower pretty deep to end up with too much asphaltenes up in the heavy gas oil that ends up as diesel.

ATF is good as a cleaner. Just don't over concentrate it. I'll never forget this a guy wanted to show me how well ATF works. He filed a dry fuel filter and spun it on the truck. When that bish lite off I thought all three heads were going to pop off that Cummins. Uncontrollable high idle until the fuel caught up to it. LOL!!

Might start using a little 2 stroke oil in it instead of atf. Been reading about some negative results from modern atf.
I have heard of good results from others using 2-sroke oil in fuel.
All positive results.

I see some asphaltene contamination in the heavy side of things in my industry. It's just that a black slime//sludge in tanks, filters. No to be confused with the brown, snotty, slimy algae. Two different contaminants and treatments. I meant to quote you Kiwi, Sorry

I don't treat the diesel i use.
I do add Mercury brand treatments including 2M oil for my injected Optimax however. The specialist lube oil is injected after the fuel pumps and injectors so the theory is the treatments help lube the pumps and injectors. Petrol (gas) is dry.
