No sir. They don't herd they just protect from predators. Both are Antolian Shepard and Great Pyrenees mix. Dad in the pic there is about 140lbs. A big attention loving baby if you're a part of his herd, a whole lot of mfer if you're a threat. When he's with the birds he even keeps his eye on red tail hawks flying over.

BTW we had trouble with the count, there are 11 of the pups.
There is a small hobby farm down the road with pigs, goats and cows in the same pasture. They are protected by 3 of those dogs. I'm confident they would kill you if you got in that fence.

And leave you. Every spring we find a possum and or coon or two. Completely intact just dead. He kills and leaves so as not to attract more. I was reading about how they handle coyote packs too. They don't chase and play their games. Just play defense with their flock/herd.

We ride by on our bikes on occasion. If there are any livestock near the road the dogs come running and are all teeth. And I mean run like a mfer.

When the back barn wasn't sectioned off and the birds were in there occasionally we would move some from there to the coop at night. They would of course protest. He left us alone but leaned on us enough that we definitely knew he was there. It was very obvious what he was doing. No barking no aggression just presence. I've read that you can never train the breed to sit, heel, roll over, etc. They cannot process the commands because they have never needed to. Not sure if it's true and I haven't tried it but it wouldn't surprise me. They're different.
