Not that I'm a Ford guy, but wouldn't a 302 or 351 fit easier? Or is it about what you have on hand? I'm an if I like it, I like it kinda guy. Badge means nothing to me.

The Chevrolet engine would probably be an easier fit. Rear sump oil pan alone means a lot.
