Dude...I might be able to get along with those bees….
Sadly.....I'm using my spinny thing again today.

Lifted my spirits it did.
We started with 1 brood box and were instructed to add a second when the first is 70% fullI split my hive this morning, because 3 wks ago I put on another brood box.
I fed them 2kg of thin syrup as the weather was wet and was worried about starvation ( we had a starvation email alert) also I wanted Them to draw out some of the new wax.
All went well (so far) as there are a lot of bees.
The sugar water will help with wax production. We started with 1 brood box and were instructed to add a second when the first is 70% full
We are starting with a 1:1 syrup mix as well as a "pollen patty" in each level
The weather is crap and it may be a while before there is anything out there to go for

Nope, fug them stingy little bastard. All of em.I might be able to get along with those bees….
The queen comes in this, and it has a plastic cap as you can see and a plug of sugar candy in the tubeMake sure you pull out the correct cork on the queen box when you put the queen in the hive!
I pulled the wrong one last weekend, because I was distracted (dog was rolling around at my feet, because he got stung), and the workers immediately balled her and tried to kill the queen. I managed to pick her up and get her back in the box, and all is well now a week later...
Our bees are straight Carniolan, it is what the experts up here recommend for beginnersThey call that the 7/10 rule. If 7 of the 10 frames are full of nectar, honey, pollen, or brood, it's time to give them more space.
I checked mine yesterday to see if they had accepted and freed the queen, and they already had 2 frames full of eggs and 3 of fresh nectar, as well as lots of workers bringing in pollen. The amount of comb they drew out in 5 days was impressive. I'm happy with this Carniolan/Italian hybrid bee so far.
I bought a 3lb package, and a 5 frame Nuc. Wanted to compare one hive to the other and compare growth and production.
As opposed to gay Carniolan? Our bees are straight Carniolan
Did you just assume my bee's gender? As opposed to gay Carniolan?
