Friend of mine went from a 2wd backhoe to a 4wd. DOT busted him for being overweight pulling it with a 1 ton Dodge. The 2wd was barely allowed....the 4wd put him over.
the weight of the transfer case and front diff is why
Ask her yourself
lol gfy
So you're saying granny was in WV, around the time of your conception.

That makes total sense now.

They rate them with the brakes in mind. 2002 Silverado 2500 with a 6.0L was rated with 10,400lbs. The 8.1 and diesel were rated for 12,000. A 2020 F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost is rated for 13,200 lbs. The 2024s with the Powerboost are rated for almost 14,000.
i still wouldnt do it with a stock half ton

Was it because he didn’t have a CDL?

You gotta have a CDL if you are over 26,000. You've gotta have a CDL-A if you are over 26000 AND your trailer is over 10,000. If the trailer is less than 10,000 but the combo is over 26k, you need a CDL-B with combinations restriction removed.

I understand all of that. That’s why I was asking Randy if his friend had his CDL…

Dall hates Ford's
Your granny hates Ford's
You hate Ford's.
You loves Chevy's
Dall loves Chevy's
Granny loves Chevy's

Need I say more, or should I rest my case.
Mostly true, except I don’t HATE Fords, us and people we know have had bad luck with a lot of Fords except for the 7.3 diesel, we have one, my grandpa has one, we know several other folks with them, those are great motors.

i run 25000 pound license on both trucks i could go to 26000 without cdl
they also go by tire ratings

so if you have single wheel truck and 10 ply tires which is about 3000 pounds per tire and 2 axles on trailer with same tires gives you 18000 total on those 3 axles that doesnt count your steering tires
so if you add another 6000 for front axle max is 24000
dually axle tires are rated about 2800 for the dual axle
then i also run 14 ply tires on the gooseneck which is 4000 per tire so you have 6000 front axle
2800 times 4 for rear axle of truck and then
16000 on trailer so at 25000 pound license im still ok

same thing with tractor trailer that is rated at 80000 license unless you get licensed more or permit
but still have to be below tire per axle ratings or adjust the load to set more or less on the truck
