Have New Year’s supper underway. Have a small prime rib on the rotisserie, first time using it as it was one of my Christmas presents from T & E. That along with some mashed taters, carrots and fennel salad should be a decent meal to start the year.

Fixin to chow down. Collard greens, black eyed peas, and jowl bacon.

I’ve had jowl bacon made the last couple years. It’s a little chewier than regular bacon which is kinda funny considering where it comes from.

I only shot one, one time. Shot it 6x with a 12 gauge and it would fall over and then keep walking.

Just this past spring I shot 7 out of the same tree with the hole I posted the pic of earlier, which is why I'm thinking that's porcupine crap.
Bastards just kill the trees here.

Your eyes freeze up as well today? Few keepers out of the 70 or 80 we caught. I bet Adam ,@Kiwioilboiler, hasn't had to thaw his rods to fish.

I caught a bunch of slabs this fall, I'm trout hunting now.

You fly fishing? Trout in this area are all stocked, rainbows and browns. I haven't got into it enough to worry about using fly rods, just spinning setups. Small creek about 20 minutes away will hold some older fish if you can find them. Pickup up some 6 and 7 pound browns in the past. Actually about this time of year they will move up and hit native minnows.
