Private land only here for Deer.
No baiting in State or National Forest.
Cannot bait Bear on either.

Here we can bait bear and run dogs.
I believe they alternate years on which comes first, baiting or dogs each season. Not enough bear near me for me to put into the lottery for a tag.

Oh yeah, and on the deer..Can't bait but can plant food plots.

Back before the unfortunate boating mishap it was legal, and I cared, but now without anything to take a deer with I'm just doing land maintenance.
I was just sitting out in the woods listening to the birds sings and this MFer just fell over and died about 65yds from me. Heart attack i’m thinking because its heart was blown apart. IMG_0377.jpeg

As you can see I used the word "baiting" in our official state regs page and got "about 4,500 results"

Obviously thats just the use of the word but there were still 10 pages of results and it varies from GMU to GMU (game management unit) and even the age of the hunter

Needless to say it can be complicated, regardless of where you are

Thanks for the reply Michael. It was more a dig joke at The Riddler.

Here the boys call it Deer Stalking. Because they stalk the deer I guess, rather than laying in wait. They also call the bucks, it's an artform using small whistle / horn tubes and your voice box.

It's very different in various regions here too.
Spot and stalk is common in the western states.
Here, small tracts of private land, plus heavily wooded, it's more stand hunting.
In the northeast they do quite a bit of still hunting. Take a few steps, wait, take a few steps, repeat..

They use "Quotas" here on Bear about 6-800/yr. total.
You gotta call in everyday to see if the quota has been met.
I've killed 2 (years ago) & have ZERO interest in killing another one.

No natural scents allowed here anywhere in the State (Deer Pizz/CWD).
Cant even bring your own wood into State/National Forests.
Prolly not a bad policy as you may bring wood pests into the forest unknowingly.
Got to be a Lawyer to hunt here anymore... Lol

I take it from this you're not supposed to "chum" the bambi's to a convenient spot?

Depends on location Adam.
Here in WI, if they find a deer with CWD (chronic wasting disease), it's no baiting in that county and all surrounding for, I think, 5 years. If no other cwd case is found in that time, they then allow it again.
Baiting in my county has been a no go for quite a few years now.
I think it's stupid, but I don't make the rules.
I couldn't put out, say 2 gallons of corn, because it may spread cwd because deer may congregate. But, I can dig a water hole they can all pisš, shìt and drink from and that's OK, water isn't considered bait..
Plus all cwd cases in my county were all on deer farms. Not 1 single wild deer has tested positive...
Missouri rules state no grain products 10 days prior to hunting. You can use scents and are allowed to place salt on private lands. CWD zones have their own special rules that say no feed, salt or scent may be used year round, but that rule changes during the cull. Basically cull hunts are an anything goes within reason. Baiting, spotlighting, night vision, larger capacity magazines are all allowed for a 2 month time period after the regular season.

And hammers because. Small one is a Vaughan.
When I saw a hammer similar to the one on the left that looked like it was out of the Space Shuttle tool kit, was when I learned about the high tech and HIGH DOLLAR framing hammers

I want to say the shaft or some part of it was titanium but not sure if I am remembering that correctly

That's getting to be the case up here as well and you also better be tech savvy because they will put temporary or emergency regs/closures/limits, etc in place on short notice and they only exist on the ADF&G website but you are still responsible for knowing about them

Kind of sucks if you have *s-wordty cell coverage or low batteries or simply don't look on a daily basis while you are in the field
