Ok Hammerheads.
Went and spent the day with the ole man.
Had venison cubed steak, homemade gravy, butterbeans, and homemade biscuits, and fruit salad for lunch.
Felt like Jasons fat arse after that. Havent eaten that much in a year or two.

Doves werent cooperating. Only ended up with two and one fatass Pigeon that wandered by, so no pics.
On a good note, my late brothers 16 gauge Remington Sportsman 58 worked perfectly for the 7 or 8 times I got to pull the trigger.
Yes, I missed a couple. Stupid easy shots too.
Still had fun.

In it's time the 58 was the high grade gun.
I learned to hunt quail with my uncle who shot a 20ga mod 58.
They will shoot forever. The only thing that ever broke was an extractor on one of the 4 mod 58s in the family.

Shot a limit of dove today. Weather was cool and just enough clouds to keep the glare down.
Now if the docs can get this occasional lightheadedness worked out i will be happy.

Glad to hear you were well enough to go out today.

Glad the birds were there for y'all.
We shoot on a field that some of our extended family owns. They are younger and have kids that are being taught the sport, so we always take a spot near one of the hay barns and let them have the prime spots. I just pull my truck in the barn and we sit in the shade and watch.
If the birds start flying our way, we go up the hill and find a decent spot.
Never went out today. The pigeon and one of my two doves bounced off the hay barn roof before hitting the ground.

On the 58s, the one my brother had was found well used at Franklin gun shop in Athens years ago.
I had a 20 gauge 1100 light weight that I shot after the Ithaca 20 dad bought me for Christmas when I was 10 finished wearing out. Bought that one from a family friend that bird hunted with my grandad. Wish I still had it.

My grandads 58 is so worn that the receiver slide plate broke. They had a friend machine a new one, but the slide rails in the receiver housing are worn so thin it chatters and breaks the slide plate. If I can figure out how to replace those rails, I can possibly get it going again. It looks like they are pinned into the housing.
I dont want to have to replace the receiver outer housing if I dont have to, just because it has all of the wear that he put on it all those years.

Good morning amoeba’s,

We had a break-in in the village last week, at my place and at my cousin's, who is in jail.
Well, they got one (unfortunately not me, luckily for him as I prefer to settle with one crowbar). He eventually put the cards on the table, the other was a c**t who is related to us (she who lived in the caravan of my brother).
The good thing is that now we know which pig it is that is lurking around us.

Maybe next month I'll buy a chainsaw, a bit in doubt if I'll go electric...

Like the old car and gun stuff.
Deer made a mess of my garden too. Didn't help that I HAD a big patch of clover.
May have learned something here,
holographic coyote, or alligator for deer and yetti-birds lol.

Good morning all. Doves apparently declared a no fly zone. Never seen so few flying at all. Headed back across the street to the house and they were everywhere. I think they are on to us. May go with a change of venue for next year. The finches were everywhere chowing down in the field.

Still a good day, and shells are still a plenty!
