Good afternoon ladies,
I had to get the spruce beams indoors, far too soon for the finger, but the hanger they were on must be delivered.
Now it's almost as fat as my thumb.
Well, whatever needs to be done, I'll give it a couple of weeks off, at least wait until the nail pops off.

Good evening guys….

I thought I give you an update of the bees,
it could have been the weather or some how my bad handling of that large & bulky cable drum. 🤔🤷‍♂️ and also the queen got killed ?
It got left upside down 🤦‍♂️ probably cos I just had enough by the time ( 22:40 ) I got it to where it had to go

The reason I say this, is the bees were a bit lost yesterday & still a bit grumpy ( from the guy where I put it ) . they never really bothered me today.

The shorts for those that know, 2 brood boxes not all filled with comb so I added wax sheets to fill them up. I didn’t transfer 4 all drone comb. I saw eggs in some of the comb I transferred,( they can rear a queen if needed, or if she’s still there, she will lay eggs in the wax sheets after they draw them out) if I give them a week I will find out .
Then I can decide what to do with the two brood boxes, split them or not, depending on if they make queen cells or the queen lays eggs.
.I added a super to give a bit more room, so it’s 2 broods + super.

I didn’t bother transferring some of the solid pollen filled combs from the drum, it would have filled 4 or 5 frames, I thought I needed to give them space to grow.

I tried to smoke the rest of the bees up into the hive after I finished removing the comb. It didn’t really work so ended up get hand fulls from the underside of the drum and putting them in front. they never started to fan and rush in. So I’m hesitant to say there’s a queen.
I left the hive on top of the drum so all the honey coated bees could eventually find there way home

As with every job you learn on the go.. but build your knowledge, I guess you can see I was already trying to make the best of what I had and the knowledge I have..

Btw. The cable drum was about 2/3rds to 3/4 full of comb, some from last yr and a bit from this yr

I will get the few vids I have in a in a shorter combined vid uploaded to yootoobe soon 😉🤞

Gd’evenin boys. Hope ya’ll are enjoying the weekend so far. Spent the afternoon floating down the Root River on a tube with a cooler in tow. Kids had a blast. Once they figured out they could pee in the water, they didn’t want to get back in the tubes lol

Woke up at 4:00 as a thunderstorm rolled through. 1/2" of rain in a 15 minute storm. More coming today. Happy Monday, tomorrow should be the holiday, probably the most important Holiday of the year.

Stay safe and stay dry.
