Let me ask you engine aficionados something...

I have a chance to pick up a real clean, fully loaded 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 with the 4.0L I6 in it, for a crazy price. From what I understand but haven't had time to read a whole lot, Jeeps' 4.0 in-line 6 was one of the best engines around back in its' day. It has right at 200K miles on it, doesn't leak a single drop of fluid and been babied the last several years. It runs out, drives, shifts fine, 4x4 Selec-Trac (I think it is vice Quad-Trac 4x4 system) works fine. The only problem it's ever had was a power window motor failed on a rear window, and the decision was made to replace all four with factory OEM motors about six years ago (was a known problem with these window motors). The Jeep was involved in a little fender bender several years back and only damaged the front driver side headlight, headlight assembly mount, and slight/little quarter panel damage, and was repaired/re-painted, etc and good to go.

Any input would be appreciated.

Edit - any and all maintenance ever done to this thing...oil changes, trans fluid changes, brakes, etc, etc, etc records are all there as well. Vehicle is a one-owner bought new back in '02.

They really are great machines. Bushings on the front differential are a source of noise and clunking once worn out, but inexpensive and easy to change. The 4.0 is a really good engine.

Looks like I’m the proud owner of this thing now…2006 Mercedes Benz ML 350, V6, A/T, 113K original miles, fully loaded, sun roof, clean as can be inside and out. Have all the maintenance/oil changes, records, etc in its’ life…all were done at either Mercedes Benz of Atlanta or Jackson Mercedes Benz in Macon, Ga. Drives and rides like, well you know, a damn Benz. Clean Carfax. Wasn’t gonna pass it up for no more than I’ve got in it…

I think I'm gonna get it as well. That Benz is prob gonna get flipped. I ain't hardly got *s-wordt in the Benz and this '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 gonna set me back a whopping $1K. And the silver paint on this Jeep is in damn good shape too.

That Benz oughta be right up Dally's skirt...it's got a front ashtray and lighter in the center console area and a rear ashtray and lighter sitting right below the center, rear passenger a/c, heat, fan speed controls for the backseat folks. Neither ashtray nor lighter has ever been used so I'd prob have to hide that *s-wordt from Dally.

I have experience with a whole one of those jeeps.
SIL bought it new for daughter before going to sand land. She drove it for 200k before the salt ate it. I think it had smaller engine.
The entire front end was replaced once under USMC deployed warrantee thingy. She liked it.

I have a rock crusher transfer case here for those that needs a home. As I understand, using the RC makes lower gearing for running the big rims and tires.

Can you hook me up with one of those sweetheart deals if another falls in your lap? I have a buddy who needs a cheap set of wheels. I told him I would keep an eye out for something since he's not computer savvy.

Had to hit up the Home Depot on my way home from work yesterday. Come out and see this Mexican asshat parking next to the gramps mobile. One GFY given but lost in translation i believe. View attachment 368036
Superglue in locks and handles would help
My friend Rudy stopped by yesterday and brought me a bag of blonde roast coffee from Starbucks. I gotta admit....this stuff is pretty damn good.
Starbucks sucks
