My vote is for either a pontoon or a deck boat, if you decide to go forward with the madness of boat ownership.Elliott is loving it. He misses some of his old friends but chats with them online and we take him in to the city to visit once in a while. He’s liking riding the school bus and the smaller school. Only 18 kids in his class and they’ve all been very welcoming. It hasn’t been without challenges, Tamara had a sciatica flare up that laid her up for 8 weeks and still has to know her limits. Currently looking at floating money pits to tie up to the dock.
Both of those will give you plenty of space for the family and any toys you want to bring, and you have better choices of tops to keep the sun off, if thats an issue.
Pontoon is a bit slower, but more stable.(some of the tri-toons are damn sporty though)
Deck boats offer a faster and more maneuverable craft with basically the same amenities up top.
Of course, there is a price difference for having that cake AND eating it.
Had a couple of center consoles and pontoons.
Never a deck boat.
Where we live, having a boat that you can run straight up to the shore and beach is the best way to go. We hang out on the small sand beaches on our local lake, so a pontoon is perfect for us, but the crusty bay boat we had before that wasnt bad either.
It was cheap enough and old enough that I didnt feel bad running it straight up on the beach. Fixed the POs damage that they did, put a keel guard on, and sent it.
