Used to rebuild half of that engine as in 3508 and drop it in a Cat D11 dozer way back in my younger days Adam. Back when those first came out they would throw the bolt on counerweights right through the side of the block. Cat never had issues in a generator application. But first round in a Dozer, well major changes happened. LOL!! Thx for the memories.

Changing main bearings in the G3500 series in place people used to remove counter weights to make it easier. When they started flinging them, Cat started welding the bolts to the cweight, and came out with the cable studs instead. Still faster to use blocks of wood and a port a power though.

I did punch work in the evenings in Cary NC a great many years ago. My older brother and his partner Rick would get knee deep in beer and stop by wherever I was working to tell me how wrong everything I did was.

I hated that. LOL
