Bear spray.
Yes sir, need to pick some up this weekend.

Remember kids you do not have to be faster than the bear/cougar you just need to be faster than at least one of your companions. ;)

I might *b-word and whine but couldn’t do my family that way.

I thought you could, just had to jump through a couple of hoops? What about a long gun?

Rules got changed again this fall, they are initiating a nationwide buy back of anything fun.

I can own a long gun, just wouldn’t carry one walking in an inhabited area. Too much chance of hitting something else when shooting in the dark. Pretty much all the shooting I’ve done had been static targets and I’d be nervous trying to hit something charging at me with a long gun while the dog pulls on the leash. Likely to hit everything but what I want too.

Bear spray and caution are likely the best solutions, just need to focus on getting the walks done after supper and I can likely stay up a little later if I’m not getting up so early in the morning. Will just take getting used too.

lol I got rid of my dewalt battery stuff
I recently aquired a 20 volt Default full size porta band saw from work.
Found the saw and a charger from a former techs truck.
Got warehouse to get a couple of 5 ah batteries for it.
So far, its been really handy, once I adjusted the blade tracking screw so it didnt keep throwing the blade.
Ive had several Milwaukee corded porta band saws, and NONE of them required a blade tracking screw.
Just sayin...

Gotcha. Pretty much 100% not a dog of any kind, while coyotes are common in the area they scare with any noise and normally just shining the light on them would get them to scoot.
How aboot long guns?
Ive seen a few of yall that have those.
Wouldnt be worried about strolling along with a 12 guage over muh shoulder out in the country.
Few rounds of Buckshot would probably make angry kitty go away.;)

Wouldnt worry about the tests.
Just worry about how you feel.
Hoping you get through it soon.

Youde be way more apt to hit something you didnt want to with a handgun than a scattergun. The range is MUCH shorter with the latter.
Play it safe.
Go with a #6 shot in a non-magnum load.
Perfectly legal, non-harmfull to the neighbors, and a lot more room for error than a handgun.
I understand you dont want to do unnecessary harm.
Just understand your family needs YOU not to be unneccesarily harmed as well.
May be as simple as changing your walk time or location.
Perhaps this cat has noticed you and Thea walking, and has determined that Thea can be a meal for her and her kids.
She wouldnt normally go after you, but if she could get to your dog....

Yeah, no more morning walks fit a while, maybe once the white stuff covers the ground I’ll think about it again. Was just in the front with the dog and heard some pretty serious carrying on by some coyotes out back.

The country sure is darker than the city. Here for a lifetime, not a short time so learning and adapting is in order.
