Sounds like some bad stuff blew thru kentucky among other places. Windy and rain here, crazy thunder and lightning this morning but nothing severe thankfully

I have a top side creeper that helps

It won't on the new trucks.
Engine sits lower and cowl extends out much further over the engine. You wouldn't be able to reach much on one of those. They just suck to work on.

1980 was a really bad year, at some point they had to build them back up.

I will say however, at the off road races(at the time) nothing would touch a Ford independent front end in the 4x4 class. Them things could scoot around the corners so fast nothing could catch 'em.

A lot of offroad racers still run the twin I-beam. The 2wd Ranger is a fav among offroaders building Baja style trucks.
