Ok fellers, I have a question. How do you go about figuring out the drive link count for an unmarked bar going on a saw it didn't come from? Same bar mount pattern just not an OEM bar.
Can you bust a loop that is too long and use it to measure with?

Dealing with two different vintage saws that share the same bar pattern. Bars have no link count and I have no chain loops from said bars.
String will work too Steve as it will lay in bar.
Similar to measuring a pulley set up to get a belt.
Crude but effective.

Yes. I have chains of the same pitch but for different length bars.
Can't mount the mystery bar to the powerhead without a sidecover having bi-sected it horizontally with a datum line? Lay the chain from radius of rim to nose. Might get you to half a chain, then x2?

Here is a link for you Steve. It will compare drive link counts in inches.
Different pitches equal different counts of course. So this should cover you sir.
Cool. Thanks mang. I have a stack of Mini Mac bars here from Brent. Three different lengths. I'm wanting to use a couple of them on my Remington Mighty might saws. Of course those Mighty Might saws have different length and top to bottom thickness than the Mini Mac bars.

That could work too. I need the info for 1/4
Pitch too. Absent from that link from Tim. Me and My baby saws.
