It's that stupid thing that they put in the way of your fingers and the cutoff wheel. You dont need that. Throw it over your left shoulder, or you'll have bad luck.
thats what i usually do with mine
just got to remember to hold tight and respect it
and expect a kickback

Yep. Its called "common sense". Apparently, it's not that common anymore. We have to protect the stupid ones, I mean, we have to protect the "less knowledgeable" ones.

Lol yeah I know, those bastages go in the trash with the box the grinder came in. Wear good safety glasses. Probably should have a face shield on but probably shouldn't smoke meth either

Ever see the ones of the dudes who got pulled into lathes?

at work we can get fired if we remove the guard or the handle
If you are in a tight spot they say to use air operated grinders that have less power
And if that won’t work you have to get the safety guy the superintendent and the plant safety people to all sign off before taking a guard off

you can’t even remove the handle to put it in your tool bucket even if it is unplugged and cord wrapped around it

they are trying new ones that shut down if it feels a little bit of a kick and you can’t force them any
The old ones that I didn’t like I would push on them until they burnt up lol

right after high school i worked at a manufactured house plant here in town we built around 120 houses a year and i got put building the floors when i was hired
working with a guy that had a bad arm and a drunk
he didnt like me much and one day he was using a circular saw to cut down trough a 2x10 floor joist
i asked him if he wanted me to hold up pressure on it and he said no and for me to do something else
about 30 seconds later you heard the saw kick and him cuss
the saw kicked back and ran up his left arm from wrist to elbow and blood clear up on the 20 foot ceiling
thats the day i went from helper to the main guy building the floors and only being there a month

Why tf were they showing you that stuff in high school?

Metal shop class we had eight 10" and one 13" South Bend lathes. Made some trinket junk on them, occasionally made something useful. Learned to setup and use the machines though. Videos were mostly to scare kids outta trying anything stupid. It 'mostly' worked.

Shooting stuff todayView attachment 256747Nice out 81*View attachment 256748View attachment 256749Friendly black snake came right up to meView attachment 256750Ever see a Kelly's axe true temper never hung?
He didn't know the year but it likely from 40s or 50s his dad had a lot of them.
Sadly it's unstamped it's a lunch bucket special
The worker's snuck them out to sell for extra money.

Several of his dad's friends worked generations there
Until they closed in the early 80s
He gave me his dad's much earlier Kelly's Pulaski
He has several never hung.
I couldn't have any jersey axes or single bits
I tried.
Friendly or not I would have shot it:):camper:
