Morning all. Suns out looking alright for today. System rolls in tomorrow sometime bringing some spring snow. 6-8” they are saying. I’m blaming @redline4 ...

I'll take that blame.
Hell, I might go put my snowplow away in my parents shed and get our the lawnmower.
Just because.

How was your week Kenny was it a bish ;)
I worked plenty but made little.

Was heading for the deep pines with my chainsaw mills and trailer, yesterday. It was a chit show of showers so that got scrapped. Today is decent and overcast so I'm back after these beam cuts. 4"x22"x27'. Chit ain't no joke.
The cancellations this year are more than 1-1. People are indecisive and worried so they keep postponing scheduled work. I'm getting out or hiring others to deal with it now. Residential sucks this years. Going back to my small one site type commercial stuff. I can move in other direction while working the same land in the parks. They need repair guys and people to keep the roofs tight, clean and dry from leaks. Easier work so maybe I hire someone to get on it while I run the show. That is the advice most people keep giving me this year.

Could make a *s-word ton of money with a young climber in my stable. The work is there but I'm not running the job from up in the air anymore.

Got a bumper for the kids truck from the body shop guys.
The bumper is a correct HD bumper, but the brackets are 1/2ton. Likely why it ended up in the upstairs corner for years.

The hitch on these also bolts to the bumper, so I can use that to set my height. Got a used hitch.

Scribed the brackets, cut them off and got it mocked up.

Need to cut some gussets, do some welding and put the top pad back on the bumper.

Don't weld the bumper on bolt it with grade six bolts. Seen too many accidents I was called out on with welded rear bumpers that took out the driver. The frame bends under the cab and you get a blown out back. Much better to have it shear and crush vs transmitting the energy to your cab. Been there myself... hit 40mph at a dead stop but was rolling into the clutch for take off at the light. I was young and lucky the bumper was bolted on that truck. Sheared every bolt on the frame brackets. Saved my ass for sure.

The worst ones are welded trailer hitches. They leave on a stretcher most times.
