I had some good news to share regarding my own health, but right now it feels insignificant.

Our Øsa has contracted pancreatitis, was confirmed today.
We have been to the vet twice, once on Sunday, once today.

We let her eat today, a huge mistake afterwards.
Now I doubt she's surviving this. She's just as bad now as she was at her worst on Sunday. On Sunday, she spit blood. She has not vomited tonight, but she is extremely reduced.

If she comes through the night and comes to the vet tomorrow, I'll be able to cover tomorrow, but when we get to Easter there are bills that are more like 2-3k $ per day if she needs treatment.

I underwent surgery with Prazzla at Easter 2015, the bill came to 4k $ that time.
This time I'm retired, we'll see how tomorrow goes.

That really sucks to hear. Hoping she will pull through this.

You shouldn't.
Ass plunge doesnt have a lot of qualifications for their employees.
Case in point. My sons friend went to work for a local tree service. He hadnt even held a chainsaw up to that point, let alone been given any instruction. They put him on feeding the chipper first day. No safety talk beforehand or anything.
I guess they figure there wouldnt be much evidence left behind if he didnt make it.

Working around a chipper is common sense. If you need the obvious pointed out you shouldn't be there.

Thanks Dave and Steve, I hope she does too.
And yes, they are family members, she sleeps with us every night in bed.
She is, only 2 years old.
I wish it was possible to rewind 6 hours in life, I can not describe how much I regret letting her eat her usual food now. Not that there was much I let her eat, but obviously too much.

If I'm lucky, I get a few hours of sleep tonight, this evening has given me a throbbing headache, more doubtful if there will be any sleep.

Hate hearing that Tor. We thought that was what was bothering our Cherry a couple years ago, it wasn’t but they never did figure out what it was before there was only one humane thing left to do.

Thanks, Gary.
It makes me sad to hear that you have lost your Cherry due to pancreatitis. There are some people who pass away because of that gland, so there is no doubt that it is a spooky disease.
I'm stupid, I read about what should be done first tonight, then it was kind of too late to reverse it to put it that way.
It has ended very badly for Øsa, really tragic development, I reacted when she vomited blood on Sunday, phone to the duty vet asap and straight to the emergency, swiped my Visa Card brutally.
Øsa was so-so on Monday, so I booked a follow-up appointment on Tuesday, which ended up with 6 hours at the vet.
She responded very very well, then I make this general mistake. Do not feed a dog with gland inflammation, and avoid fatty foods in the first few weeks.
and what did we give her? 40 pills with senior food, 3-4 might have been in borderland.

Our Øsa has recovered a little bit in the last few hours, if she manages this we will take CRP & temp, most likely gland test, and possibly ultrasound as well, to see if she also needs antibiotics intravenously.

I could not 'like' your post, losing a dog is a terrible experience for you.
But I want to thank you for the information you gave me.

Those who have pets hold them close and be thankful for the time we get with them. It seems they don’t need to live a human lifetime because they are born knowing how to love, humans learn to love over time. Some never learn how to unfortunately.
excellent post, my friend.
Totally agree with ya.

We had to put our curr down due to her suffering from some sort of allergic to her own skin disease. We tried everything the vets recommended. Until we realized there was nothing going to stop her suffering as well. I cried like a baby.
