Yep, used to collect and work on them back a bit - lost interest now LOL. I do still have a website selling the mantles: https://www.justmantles.co.nz/Working on a fugging Coleman lantern for some idiotis reason. The cleaner tip broke off in the gas jet. Its finer than a frogs hair. I just got it out with heat and Aerokroil after getting some advice from a lantern forum.
Pretty cool stuff.
When you are grinding a cylinder, do you have an enclosed space with extraction fans or the like to keep the dust out of your other chit. Like Windsors, and Snowmobiles. That's what i meant to ask.Huh?

I inherited three Coleman lanterns from my Dad. One works. Big twin mantle mfer. Power house or something it says on it. I have another twin, needs work and one is a lil single mantle. Needs glass. Im planning on all three running eventually but that lil one i wanna restore.Got this 252A US military issue. 1965 manufacture. Got for $10.00 US at a yard sale.
Have a 413G stove that dad gave me. Made 7-1976.
Picked up a 425E stove at a yard sale for $3.00 US. Made 11-1973. Its just a few months younger than me.
413G needs a genny.
425E works pretty good.
This lantern is driving me nuts!
Running lean. Got the mud daubers out of the air tube. Better, but still lean. Thinking about openning the other air tube up a bit. Ive heard they can be "ported".

No, it's not dust , more like sluff from a band saw comes off the cylinders when you grind on them. The cutters chew through them pretty good and make more of a small chip. It stays local to where I'm working, mostly in the cylinder itself.

The generators on those old Military ones can clog up, especially as they were designed to run on anything that was available to hand, it gets especially bad if they are run on standard fuel - the additives in the fuel deposit in the generator. Might pay to dismantle the generator and soak it in a solution of citric acid and hot water, it cleans them up beautifully.Got this 252A US military issue. 1965 manufacture.
