Morning all. Going to be a hard day to get off the couch.

I been scopin oot a Honda 9/28 tracked blower. I had a tracked crapsman back in the day. I would have kept it if I wasn't doing mine and my parents at the time. I prefer a blower over plowing. Also looking into a Bercomac blower for my Deere GX335 garden tractor.

Always thought I wanted a tracked machine, had a long discussion with my dealer about it and I made another selection. In the end it came down to a couple of things, they are slow and handle poorly. They only move when running so if you run out of gas you are humping for the gas can or looking for a buddy to help when it breaks. In his opinion they really only are an advantage on long straight drives and you only ever plan on using it when there is 6+ inches of show. If you want to clean up 2-3 inches it is much faster with a wheeled machine. Tracks really only make sense if you are going to use it when you have to slow down due to a full hopper of snow.

Personally couldn’t be happier with my Arienswith auto steer. The manoeuvrability can’t be beat.

Rode one of those. Scary... but not as scary as the dudes YZ490 or the CR500 stuffed with goodies on 250 frame. You *s-word yourself real fast and give respect on that bike or *frenching die.

Id move for sure o_O

Since I quit snow plowing I have both tracked and a pusher. Put some custom skis on the pusher. We have some stone here and pavers on the walk.

Some Teflon/ nylon guides on the bucket are perfect for that.
I used steel bolted to the side scrapers. Looks like the long custom ride shoe on an alaskan mill. Works great. Cut from leaf spring steel and they look like snowboards on there.

Good morning Pat how’s your weekend going
Pretty good Todd. I’m doing some inside work. Splitting cases on a 272xp and building 3 350 huskys hodrods to compare. Just little piddling. Hope you’re having a good weekend.

Oh I've lived. The 5 spine surgeries ended bikes for me. I ran big bore 4 strokes a lot if years. Last one had 49.7 hp at the rear wheel. XR650R.
Mine ended after the first spine surgery.
It was good to be young.

The Honda unit's steer now. Pull the trigger on the side you wanna turn and it stops that track while the other one powers you around. That only came about on those in 2016 I think. Before that you would have to wrestle that mfer to turn. Had Zero interest in that scenario. My tracked craftsman had the trigger steering but also has that garbage friction wheel drive. Easy to use. No wrestling. Slower than wheel type for sure but having had both in bad winters, I'll stick with the tracks if i go walk behind. The Honda have hydrostatic drive as do some others now. They appear to be faster than my old track craftsman. Leaning heavy towards the Bercomac for my lil tractor. Waiting on a reply to see if they still offer one for the Deere GX335. I could put a big rear mount pull type 2 stage meteor or quick attach brand on the back of my kubota L3800 but them sumbeatches are made of gold I swear.

Back when I used an International Scout to plow I slit a 2" pipe long ways, slipped it over the cutting edge and tack welded it on. The ends were curved up and capped for when angling. No more tearing up the dolomite and yard.
