It's a shame because the girlfriend is a hell of a gardener and likes the heirlooms.
Hard case ay. Fresh I like and can handle them. Sliced on a Sammy of ham, cheese, Tom, lettuce, mayo.
Cooking the kunts seems to intensify the acid maybe? and I get gut cramps straight after eating them.

How in tarnation does anyone ever get good on a saw as an adult?

I own a saw, I burn wood, I even picked up some part-time work for a little contract thinning outfit around here, and yeah, I've probably not gone backwards as I would have done if I just didn't touch a saw all winter, but I spent a hell of a lot more time driving around and stacking and splitting than I do cutting of any kind, let alone felling. (Substitute "we" for "I" and strike out "splitting" for the part-time job.). I can watch Youtube videos till the cows come home but without a whole lot of real-world practice it doesn't mean diddly. It's just this endless loop of needing trigger time to get good but needing to get good to get trigger time.

Fair question. I can think of a bunch of things I want to get better at--hitting the beer can especially when felling off the lean, working with fire-weakened trees, cutting when I'm underbarred, production slashing without dulling my chain or leaving a bunch of stobs--but the obvious next question is what it means to be "better at" those things without an obvious way to quantify them. There are also some institutional standards I'm working towards (NWCG FAL2) but there's no reason for anyone who doesn't already recognize that alphabet soup to care about that, really.

@Woodpecker could probably give the best tips but I’m sure more folks will chime in to help. I’m no position to give pointers
