I think it depends on the work a guy has...A timber cutter buddy of mine ran a 500i for two weeks and said "never again".

Other timber cutter buddies love/hate the 500i. The 461 is a solid animal if you're cutting commercially. The 500i does have
curb appeal though. I think they look like an orange/white watermelon.

I guess I'll be in the minority and say I didn't really notice the difference in power when comparing the 461 I had to the 500I I still own.. I also don't record myself with a stopwatch, so hard to say what the difference was I guess. What I did notice was lugging the 500I around through the woods / brush was a lot easier on the busted back I have...

Keep the 461 for sure, I had 2 that I modified and wish I still had both. Most people seem to like the 500i for weight and throttle response.

My mmws 461 was a beast for a 70cc class saw, Stihl's best imo. I only prefer the 462 due to less vibes.

I think you missed the point. This is more of a bird in the hand situation and less of a 500i issue

It was just an opinion. I bought the 500I 2 years ago because of the internet hype. Did the same with the 461 because of how well everyone spoke of it, and I wanted to try it out, and my plan was to sell the 500I. Well, I sold the 461 instead.

But i get it. The $50 you have in your pocket is worth more than the $100 you don't have.

I’m no lover of the 461 or the 500i myself. I have 3 ported 7900/7910s instead
