A guy brought me his MS362 with a cracked clutch side case. I can probably weld the case, but he wants me to just replace the case half. So, my question is this...do the V2 & V1 saws use the same crankcases?

Look at an IPL that covers the years of both models and see if there’s a serial number cut off for the case half part number
I tried to do that, but I was only able to find an IPL for the current model. Perhaps there is a place I can find an older IPL. I even stopped at my dealer yesterday and that wasn't much help. It appeared to me that there is for sure a difference in the cases for an adjustable carb model vs. m-tronic.

There were severall changes and it also depends on the exact age and version of the saw. Best would be to ask your dealer with the serial number.

I'm not 100% sure. But I've got swapping case halves down pat. LOL
I managed to find an IPL for a version 1. The diagram shows two different clutch-side case halves and only one flywheel side. In the BOM it only mentions one of the cases....methinks that maybe the m-tronic case works on both m-tronic and adjustable saws. Only item #7 is shown in the BOM.

If this is in fact correct, there are case halves available on fleabay.

If you don't have the Stihl case tools, they are worth the investment. I have been able to pull a case half many times with minimal disassembly on the saw.

I don't have any Stihl tools. I don't suppose you have p/n's you could share?
