MS360 Clutch Drum

OK.. I remember way back when someone telling me about an upgraded clutch drum and bearing setup for an MS360. That saw left and I haven't thought about it again until the other day a sad looking MS360 stumbled in. The clutch it self is cooked and the drum is sad too. As it is a commercial use saw [tree service] I want to make it as good as it can be so it lasts a whole week before the tear it up again.

What is the trick to upgrading the clutch drum & bearing?

Jimmy check with your dealer for the upgrade kit. I put one of these kits on my 036. It really isn't very expensive and IMO is a must do upgrade for a ported saw or a saw that will be run hard on a daily basis.

Another cool aspect is that you are able to use the large Stihl rims. It also uses a larger bearing instead of that tiny one. I'm running one on @drf256 036 and it's working great.

Now that I think about this I think you may be right. I'm not 100% sure but it does make sense.
I guess a quick way to check would be to just check the PN of the clutch drum that is currently on the saw compared to the clutch drum that comes in the kit.
I'll get the PN off the clutch drum that I put on my 036 and post it for easy reference

I am not for sure ,but i think the upgraded kit is just an ms440 drum and bearing .

That's a .325 10 pin rim. Yes it does make for serious chain speed.

MOFO 036 with a Bing carb and a 10 pin. I'll make sure its ready to go for you Pat. I might even put a good chain on it.

I'd love to see what a "good chain" would do on my MOFO. I really need to develop some chain skills.
