Just picked up a clean ms261 that was dropped out of a tree and it snapped the rear handle off and split the tank. What are my options for a replacement?
I believe the ms271/291 tanks are the same other than the upper handle cover is black on the pro model. I just want to ask the pro's if this indeed the case before I snag one. Also if anyone has one that is fairly clean they are willing to sell let me know. Thanks

I don't believe that they will fit. The 271/291 are clamshell saws and the 261 is a pro built.

Yeah I know they are clamshell and the ms261 is a pro saw. I thought I had read somewhere that they share the tank assy. Dealer wants $150 so....

Update just spoke with the stihlership and they confirmed the 261/271/291 do all share the same tank/handle part#

Call Madsen's In Washington. They beat my local dealer by $50 the last stihl tank I bought.
